Jacob was the son of Isaac who was the son of Abraham. One day Jacob was passing through the land that God would give to him and subsequently to his descendants. According to Genesis 28 Jacob had set up stones to rest his head on while he slept. The LORD appeared to him in a dream and blessed him. When Jacob awakened he set up the rock that he had used as a pillow and anointed it with oil. Jacob named the place Bethel (House of God) and the rock he set up would be known as Jacob's Pillar.
Christians believe Jacob's Pillar is symbolic of Israel's Messiah: Jesus the Christ. In the Gospel of Matthew 11:28 Jesus said "Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." and in the Gospel of John 8:31-32 Jesus said "If you continue in my word, then are you my disciples indeed; And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."
Therein is the purpose of Jacob's Pillar.com and Jacob's Pillar.org.
In this chaotic and confused world we who seek the truth are met with a tempest of conflicting ideologies. If we earnestly seek the truth, Christ will reveal the truth to us. We can know why this world is the way it is, why we are here in the midst of it, and much more.
These truths can loose the shackles of this world that bind our spirit, that is our mind. They can really make us free!
